Jamie Whincup extends contract with Triple Eight
Jamie Whincup has extended his contract with Triple Eight Racing Engineering meaning that the five-time V8 Supercars champion is going to remain with the team, currently named Red Bull Racing Australia, until at least 2015.
“This contract extension will bring up ten years with Triple Eight Race Engineering,” said Whincup.
“I’m really happy to be staying with the family. There have been some big changes that have happened over my time here – naming rights sponsors, changing to Car of the Future and now changing engineer.”
The Holden driver is aiming for his sixth title in 2014, something that would make him the most successful touring car driver ever in Australia, passing Mark Skaife, Dick Johnson and Ian Geoghegan whom also have five titles.
“The category is in really good shape and is moving forward well, so I’m really excited to confirm that I’ll continue to be a part of it for at least another couple of years,” said Whincup.
The 2014 V8 Supercars season starts this weekend in Adelaide.
