Shane Van Gisbergen takes final Clipsal 500 pole position

Shane Van Gisbergen claimed pole position for the third and final race at the Clispal 500 in Adelaide. The Holden driver beat reigning champion Jamie Whincup by 0.1886 seconds.

Garth Tander made it a Holden 1-2-3 in third position, with Rick Kelly claiming fourth position on the grid for Nissan.

Ford Performance Racing driver Mark Winterbottom will start from fifth position ahead of Tim Slade. Craig Lowndes looked to be on his way to pole position when he outbraked him self after the long straight and lost valuable time. The Triple Eight Race Engineering driver will start seventh ahead of Jason Bright and Lee Holdsworth.

Volvo man Scott McLaughlin had his time disallowed for cutting the kurbs too hard in the first corner. The 20-year-old posted faster lap times in the two sectors than pole man Van Gisbergen, but will start from tenth position on the grid.

McLaughlin’s team mate Robert Dahlgren will start last after stopping on track during his first lap due to technical problems.
