Nissan loses major sponsor but guarantees four cars in 2015

Nissan Motorsport has announced the withdrawal of main sponsor Norton ahead of the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship, but guarantees to run four cars for next year.

“Norton recently made the decision not to renew its sponsorship of Nissan Motorsport in Australia, following the completion of our most recent contract, which expires at the conclusion of the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship,” read the statement from Norton.

Norton has been a partner to Nissan Motorsport for the past two years and been involved overall in V8 Supercars for the past seven years.

“Nissan Motorsport would like to thank Norton for its great support over the past two years in what has been an exciting time for the team and the sport. Nissan Motorsport is well down the track regarding commercial partnerships for the future. We look forward to revealing our plans ahead of the 2015 V8 Supercars season,” read a statement from Nissan Motorsport.

Despite the loss of Norton, Nissan has guaranteed four Altimas on the grid for the 2015 V8 Supercars season.

“Guaranteed, no question there will be four Nissan Altimas on the grid in 2015. This will have absolutely no effect whatsoever, no structural changes whatsoever with the team. And there is an unwavering commitment from the Kellys that nothing will alter in any way, shape or form in terms of the development programs and items that have been underway,” said Nick Ryan, GM of Marketing and Sponsorship of Nissan Motorsport, to v8supercars.com.au.
