Chaz Mostert excluded from qualifying for red flag infringement

Ford Performance Racing will have two cars start from the final row of the grid for Sunday’s Bathurst 1000, after Chaz Mostert was handed an exclusion from qualifying for overtaking while the red flag was out.

The #6 Ford Falcon of Mostert and co-driver Paul Morris will start from the final position on the grid after being fined $5,000 ($3,000 of which is suspended) and excluded from qualifying for overtaking during the first red flag in today’s qualifying session. Mostert/Morris will therefore line-up behind team-mates David Reynolds and Dean Canto in the #55 Bottle-O sponsored car.

Mostert had originally qualified in 14th position. The two other FPR-run cars of Mark Winterbottom/Steve Owen and Jack Perkins/Cameron Waters have qualified in the top ten and are in tomorrow’s pole position shootout.

Qualifying today was interrupted by two red flag stoppages. The first for Reynolds when he crashed out at The Grate, and the second for five-time champion Jamie Whincup when he crashed his Triple Eight Holden Commodore at The Cutting.
