Nine car “top ten” shootout confirmed for Bathurst 1000
There will be only nine cars in today’s top ten shootout at Mount Panorama, following confirmation that James Courtney will not be elevated to the first spot on the road as previously stated by the officials, following debate around the interpretation of the sporting regulations that govern which cars are allowed to compete.
The #2 Holden Racing Team Commodore which had qualified ninth was withdrawn after a crash in practice, with Courtney then confirmed as taking the tenth spot (with Triple Eight’s Craig Lowndes elevated to ninth), but following Triple Eight’s intention to protest the decision to include Courtney, due to this not being covered within the regulations, the officials have reversed their earlier decision.
This means only Craig Lowndes (Triple Eight Holden), James Moffat (Nissan), Jack Perkins (Charlie Schwerkolt Racing Ford), Jason Bright (Brad Jones Racing Holden), Scott McLaughlin (Volvo Polestar Racing), Mark Winterbottom (Ford Performance Racing), Dale Wood (Britek Holden), Shane Van Gisbergen (Tekno Autosports Holden) and Fabian Coulthard (Brad Jones Racing Holden) will contest the shootout at 17:10 AEST.
