Pepe Oriola delighted with double podium finish

Pepe Oriola has been once again a protagonist in Sepang, Malaysia, in the second round of the TCR International Series. The Spaniard took another second place in his SEAT León Racer, completing a 1-2 for Craft-Bamboo Lukoil.

Oriola became the only driver to score a podium finish in both races, after an intense fight with team-mate Jordi Gené for the win as well as defending almost all race long from WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli:”It was a very intense race because after I passed Ferenc Ficza Morbidelli gave me a hard time, but I managed to keep him at bay to finish in second,” said Oriola. “I’m very happy for another podium finish as well as for the team, as we did a great job and managed to score an all-Spanish 1-2.”

Oriola is now already looking forward to the next event in Shanghai, China, where the TCR International Series will once again be part of the Formula One World Championship support package:”The heat was without a doubt a big problem this weekend, but we managed to overcome it. I hope we will be able to repeat the feat as a team and, as an individual, I would love to be on the podium again.

It was a spectacular weekend and being at the front in the standings, especially for the team, has to be the most important thing.”

Pepe Oriola now lies second in the championship, just 4 points shy of Target Competition’s Stefano Comini and 5 points ahead of team-mate Jordi Gené.
