Success ballast introduced at Shanghai

The TCR International Series will be back on track this weekend for the second event of the season at Shanghai, China, once again as part of the support package of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The biggest news will be the success ballast coming into play. The top three scorers during the Sepang curtain raiser will all carry extra weight, starting from championship leader Stefano Comini, whose Target Competition SEAT will have a 30kg penalty.

The Team Craft-Bamboo Lukoil SEAT of Pepe Oriola will carry an extra 20kg, with his team-mate Jordi Gené carrying 10kg.

All of the above are irrespective of weight changes imposed on the SEATs as part of Balance of Performance measures.

The timetable has also been announced, with no substantial changes compared to the first event of the season. The TCR cars will have two 20 minute Free Practice sessions on Friday, starting at 12:00 and 17:10 local time.

Qualifying will be held on Saturday morning, with Q1 starting at 9:45, and on the same day, just before the Formula 1 qualifying session, Race 1 is scheduled to take place at 13:25.

Race 2 will take place at 10:30 on Sunday.
