Andrew Jordan happy with progress and consistency
Triple Eight Racing’s Andrew Jordan reflected on a “very good weekend” at Donington Park, netting three top four finishes to help erase the memory of a trying Brands Hatch meeting.
The 2013 champion finished fourth in race one and repeated the feat in the second at the Leicestershire circuit, despite running on the tricky soft tyre compound.
He then fought for the win in the third race, just losing out to Honda Racing Team’s Matt Neal after a close battle which later saw the factory MG squad appeal the result. Neal made contact with Jordan at McLeans early in the race to pass, and the appeal against the decision to let him keep his win will be heard at Thruxton.
Reflecting on the third race drama, Jordan said: “It felt like there was a big crash due and it never happened. There were cars everywhere and I’m sure it was good to watch.
“It was a case of trying to stay out of trouble, but equally sometimes that can get you into more trouble. So I had to try and make forward progress.
“It was a really good race, and I’m really happy with two fourths and a second. It was a tough one and I felt quite drained afterwards.”
Jordan earlier told TouringCarTimes that he thought the positions should be switched between him and Neal, but said it was a positive meeting whatever the outcome.
He said: “It’s still a very good weekend. We’ve made progress and I’ve got the car doing what I want it to do.
“Brands was just a bad one and we didn’t have any pace, but we just put our heads down and worked to get to the bottom of it, and I’m looking forward to going to Thruxton.
“I know what the car needs around there and I love the place. There are some things which will need to change for there, but we tested there and we should be good.”
