Gianni Morbidelli tops morning test session

Gianni Morbidelli was fastest in the morning test session in Valencia, Spain. The WestCoast Racing driver was two tenths quicker than title rival Stefano Comini in his Target Competition SEAT León Racer, with stable-mate Bas Schouten in third after completing some 67 laps in his Bas Koeten Racing SEAT.

The session was quite smooth, with only a few minor offs including Stefano Comini locking up and just touching the gravel, with no consequences for the car.

Lucile Cypriano started the day in a steady way, but eventually went up to a very good fourth in her JSB Compétition León, just a blink of an eye slower than Schouten. Andrea Belicchi finished fifth for Target Competition, ahead of Kevin Gleason’s Honda Civic TCR.

Mikhail Grachev, who had been at the sharp end of the session earlier in the morning, eventually came seventh in the first Audi TT for Liqui Moly Team Engstler, just ahead of fellow Russian Sergey Afanasyev in the leading Craft-Bamboo Lukoil SEAT.

Lorenzo Veglia came ninth ahead of fellow SEAT driver David Cebrián, as home heroes Pepe Oriola and Jordi Gené finished outside the top ten in 12th and 13th respectively, but both have completed less than 20 laps each.

The Campos Racing Opel Astra OPCs of Jordi Oriola and Oscar Nogués managed to complete a total of 18 laps together, as the team still tweaks the brand new car.
