Honda given weight penalty for gearbox
Honda cars will be 35 kilos heavier in Valencia for the third event of the championship.
The Civic TCR cars enjoy the benefits of a very fast gearbox, which the officials deemed as an advantage over the DSG gearbox used by the SEAT León Racers.
The weight penalty adds to the most recent Balance of Performance decisions, which include a lower ride height for all cars except the Hondas, after the dominant 1-2-3 result scored in Race 1 in Shanghai, China.
Honda are in the lead of the championship with Gianni Morbidelli, whereas the teams’ standings is led by SEAT’s Target Competition with just an eight-point margin.
