Jordi Gené fastest in afternoon session
Jordi Gené topped the standings in the afternoon test session in Valencia, Spain. The local hero came home ahead of Craft-Bamboo Lukoil team-mate Pepe Oriola, with David Cebrián in third, making it a SEAT 1-2-3.
Despite the positive results this afternoon, WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli remains the only driver to have clocked a time below 1:43.
In the combined results Gené climbs up to third, with Oriola in sixth and Cebrián in eighth. The afternoon session was a bit more chaotic, with Lorenzo Veglia having an off in the gravel – after which he brought his SEAT León back to the pits. More traffic on track and warmer conditions made the circuit tricky to manage, although a lot of rubber has been left on the ideal line, which improved traction.
Morbidelli was therefore fastest today ahead of Target Competition’s Stefano Comini. Jordi Gené was the fastest Craft-Bamboo Lukoil driver, ahead of series rookies Bas Schouten and Lucile Cypriano. Local hero Pepe Oriola came sixth ahead of SEAT stable-mate Andrea Belicchi, with David Cébrian just ahead of the only other non-SEAT driver in the top ten, WestCoast Racing’s Kevin Gleason. Sergey Afanasyev closed the top ten.
A few technical gremlins hit various drivers, including series rookie Oscar Nogués, who had to climb out of his Campos Racing Opel Astra OPC due to an engine problem, the car still suffering from youth issues, and Pepe Oriola, who had a small problem with the fuel pipe.
Below are listed the combined results of both test sessions.
The official weekend will start tomorrow at 10.00 local time with the first Free Practice session.
