Stefano Comini to start from the back of the grid in Race 2
Stefano Comini retired from Race 1 in Monza, Italy, after he broke a damper when he cut the first chicane. The Swiss driver had an off at Lesmo 1 as a result and eventually retired.
“I think I broke the damper when I cut the chicane,” said the Swiss driver to TouringCarTimes. “I wanted to avoid touching Gianni (Morbidelli) but I was on the wrong side of luck. It’s a shame because we were strong.”
The Target Competition driver had had a good race up to that point: “I was quick and I could stay with my rivals. I tried to do a clean race, but it just didn’t work out.”
The team had to neutralize Parc Fermé to fix the car, which means the former championship leader will have to start from the back of the grid.
Michel Nykjaer will have to sit out from Race 2 after his crash with Sergey Afanasyev and Mikhail Grachev.
