Stefano Comini takes marshals’ briefing penance with good grace
Stefano Comini called the sanction imposed by the TCR stewards as not a sanction at all, after he greeted the marshals during their briefing this morning as ordered to by the TCR stewards, following remarks made which were deemed as damaging to the championship following the last round at Monza.
Comini was ordered to attend the marshals’ briefing following comments made to TouringCarTimes last week, which were deemed to have brought the sport in disrepute..
“I don’t see it as a sanction and I was actually very pleased to greet the marshals at 7am sharp,” said Comini. “They are the real unsung heroes of motorsports and I have great respect for their work.”
Comini’s accommodation this weekend worked in his favour in respect of the early morning briefing, which took place three hours before the start of Free Practice 1.
“Luckily enough, I was already in the paddock, as this time I came with my motor home and slept at the track,” he added.
Comini set the fourth fastest time in free practice this morning in his Target Competition SEAT León, and is chasing the championship leader Gianni Morbidelli this weekend. The Swiss driver has stated this is set to be his last race however, unless the budget can be found to complete the season.
