Stefano Comini not getting carried away by FP1 lead
Stefano Comini led almost the entire Free Practice session at the Red Bull Ring, Austria. However, the championship leader does not feel this means he will be dominant.
“Things will be very different, starting from the second session,” said the Target Competition driver to TouringCarTimes. “First of all the temperatures were low and I don’t think the behaviour of the car is representing what we are going to see throughout the weekend.”
With the air temperature around 15° and the track just ten degrees higher, cars were quite difficult to driver: “I obviously wasn’t on the limit yet, there is a lot to find in the car. Still it was not easy to drive, it felt slippery.
I think the track temperatures will exceed 50° come Free Practice 2, and with the European Le Mans Series and the Formula Renault 3.5 cars there will be a lot of rubber, so we will have much more grip.”
Stefano Comini currently leads the championship by 2 points over Craft-Bamboo Lukoil’s Pepe Oriola.
