Tomas Engström to join Volkswagen in Asian rounds

Tomas Engström has been confirmed today at Liqui Moly Team Engstler for the Asian leg of the TCR International Series, which includes Singapore, Thailand and Macau.

The Swede, who raced before in the series at the wheel of a SEAT León Cup Racer in Sochi, will drive the car Pol Rosell won with in the second race at the Red Bull Ring.

“We were impressed by Tomas’ professionalism and performance in Russia,” said Liqui Moly Team Engstler team manager Kurt Treml. “We are confident that he will be in a good position to fight for good results in the next races.”

The former STCC driver will join the team’s regular Mikhail Grachev and Lorenzo Veglia, who will continue to drive a León.

Engström’s programme in the International Series comes instead of his originally planned run in the TCR Asia Series, which got underway last weekend in Sepang, Malaysia.
