Andrew Jordan: “Everyone’s moved on and we haven’t”
Triple Eight Racing’s Andrew Jordan says his qualifying position at Brands Hatch showed how much his competitors’ machinery have moved on compared with his own.
Jordan qualified the MG6 GT 13th on the legendary Kent track yesterday, albeit less than a tenth of a second slower than the lap record set by Jason Plato in the same car two years ago.
The 2013 champion, who still retains a slim mathematical chance of winning the championship today, said he was lacking confidence in the car underneath him.
“It [the laptime] tells its own story. Everyone’s moved on from the start of the season to here, and moved on through the winter. We haven’t,” said Jordan to TouringCarTimes.
“The frustrating thing is it could go so much quicker if it handled properly. The tyres are so unpredictable here and you can’t commit every lap. Then you have a massive moment and that brings your confidence down a bit on what you’ve got underneath you.
“I compare everything to 2013 because that was the best car I’ve ever been in. You wear it, you’re part of it – you can’t be working against it, especially around here.
“This is one of my better circuits but it’s too unpredictable and too snappy. Not enjoyable.”
Jordan is 64 points behind Honda Yuasa Racing’s Gordon Shedden with 66 left on the table from today’s three races.
