Russell Ingall to replace Chaz Mostert at Gold Coast
Russell Ingall has been confirmed to replace the injured Chaz Mostert for the Gold Coast 600 race weekend at Prodrive Racing Australia.
“Thankfully with the format of racing, when the races are actually on myself, Mark Skaife and Jessica (Yates) hand over to the commentary team so it’s actually worked in quite good that they’ve allowed me to do this,” said Ingall.
The V8 Supercars veteran and TV broadcast commentator will join Cameron Waters in the #6 Ford Falcon as Mostert continues to recover from the huge crash at Bathurst that saw him suffer a broken leg and wrist.
“It’s great to be racing with Russell. He has so much experience and I am really looking forward to learning a lot off him, particularly at the Gold Coast. I’m really happy that the team has put their faith in me and asked me to race the car at Auckland and Phillip Island. It’s a great opportunity for me to prove that I can be competitive in the main game and help the team achieve that teams points championship which is the main aim,” said Waters.
Waters, who is currently leading the Dunlop Series, will step up as main driver in the races following Gold Coast, except for the season finale due to Waters’ Dunlop Series commitments. Prodrive Racing Australia are yet to confirm who is going to drive the #6 Ford at Homebush.
