Kevin Gleason happy with good testing session

Kevin Gleason came fifth in today’s Testing session in Buriram, Thailand. The American driver carries 20 kilos of ballast heading into the weekend, but he is confident the racing will be close and he will join the party.

“I think the session was good, we put a few miles under our belt and I gained confidence with the track,” explained the WestCoast Racing driver to TouringCarTimes. “We made a few changes here and there and they worked quite well, so overall I am confident about the weekend. It should be fun.”

Speaking of which, Gleason says there are several overtaking points here at the Chang International Circuit: “I think Turn 3 and the last corner, Turn 12, will be very good for overtaking opportunities. There are also a few spots where it’s easy to make a mistake, so if you are behind you can try to exploit that and overtake. I like the track, it has a bit of everything, slow corners and high speed corners as well, so it’s very interesting and I really enjoyed myself today.”

A downside of the track is how easy it is to exceed track limits, something the American is worried about: “Of course as a driver you want to exploit the track as much as possible. Sometimes you think you are okay and then your time gets deleted because the stewards have a different opinion. It’s annoying, but it’s something we need to live with, as it’s the same for everyone.”

Gleason is the last driver still in with a chance of winning the title, although he is 63 points shy of the lead with 110 still at stake.
