Lorenzo Veglia positive his car can be improved

Lorenzo Veglia came tenth earlier today in Buriram, Thailand, in the Testing session. The Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver thinks his car is not on top of its game yet, and has ideas to improve it for tomorrow.

“The changes we wanted to make were not possible during the two hours we were allowed today, but I think I know where we need to improve,” said the SEAT driver to TouringCarTimes. “I already have a nice feeling with the car, but it’s not enough and hopefully the changes we decided to make will improve it.”

When asked about his car’s behaviour, especially compared to the very understeery León driven by Target Competition’s Stefano Comini, the Italian admitted the problem is caused by the nature of the car and the track: “We have a front-wheel drive car, so we live with understeer all the time. You can try to improve the setup and make it acceptable, but it will not go away completely. The track has some fast corners which will always induce this kind of issue, so you have to be prepared to manage the throttle and the steering in order to preserve the tyres. With these high temperatures and the tarmac still new, we need to be careful. I tried to push during a long run and after five laps I was completely out of tyres.”

Action will resume tomorrow at 9.00 local time for the first Free Practice session.
