Alain Menu happy with Subaru progress

Alain Menu was one of the drivers who went out on track for this morning’s shakedown in Buriram, Thailand. The Swiss was happy with the progress made by the team.

“The direction we have taken is the right one,” said the Top Run driver. “The car is obviously new, so first of all there were the big problems to assess and solve, and I think we went through that stage already. Turn in is much better and I have a bit more confidence in the car now.”

The Subaru STi needs a lot of mileage, and Menu thinks that the team are doing their best with the amount of track time they have: “Friday was good, because we had two full hours to test. Yesterday was more difficult, because I only had five minutes to drive in Free Practice 2, and that’s a problem. The car surely needs more mileage.”

Despite these issues, the Swiss is confident the car will be much better for Macau: “We are at the stage in which we solve a problem and find more little issues along the way, so there is a lot of work to do. We have to take today’s races as a test, because next up is Macau and you need a lot of confidence not just in yourself, but also in the car. I believe we will get there, though.”

Race 1 starts at 12.35 local time.
