Nick Percat could miss Phillip Island due to infection

Nick Percat has been hospitalised for a severe infection and could miss the V8 Supercars round at Phillip Island next weekend.

“Our focus and concern is for Nick’s health and his recovery, but we will give him every chance to drive his #222 Commodore at Phillip Island. Our thoughts are with Nick and we hope he will be putting his race suit and joining us at the island,” said Lucas Dumbrell, owner of Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport to v8supercars.com.au.

Percat sustained the injury at the Gold Coast 600 race where a broken exhaust header caused the foot well to heat up, burning Percat’s right foot.

Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport could be forced to find a replacement driver if Percat’s infection does not heal in time.

“We have a contingency plan in place if Nick is not well enough, but our preference will always be to have him race,” said Dumbrell.
