Aaren Russell lands full-time drive for Erebus Motorsport

Aaren Russell has secured a full-time V8 Supercars drive for Erebus Motorsport in the 2016 season.

“I’m absolutely stoked. It’s very, very shocking to have your dad ring you up and let you know you’re going to be racing in the main series – after the end of last year we thought we were sitting on the couch this year doing nothing,” said Russell to v8supercars.com.au.

The 24-year-old has driven five season in the V8 Supercars Dunlop Series, finishing 11th overall, and drove the 2015 Bathurst 1000 race in a wild card entry with his brother Drew Russell.

“Having Aaren join us this year will be fantastic. He comes from a family-based motorsport business and it’s wonderful to see his whole family involved. Supercars is about family, fun, and of course, racing to win! We look forward to helping Aaren achieve his goals,” said Betty Klimenko, Erebus Motorsport owner.

Russell replaces Ash Walsh and joins newly signed David Reynolds as team mate at Erebus Motorsport.
