Tim Slade fastest in Winton pre-season test for BJR

Tim Slade topped the time sheets in a pre-season test at Winton Motor Raceway today in his first run with Brad Jones Racing.
“Fortunately I haven’t had to change my driving style too much to adjust to this car, so that was nice,” said Slade to v8supercars.com.au.

The Holden Commodore driver lapped the circuit with a time of 1:21.2608 and was 0.0906 seconds faster than Holden Racing Team driver James Courtney.

Prodrive Racing Australia driver Chaz Mostert was behind the wheel for the first time since his major incident at Bathurst last year, setting the third fastest time in the Supercheap Auto-liveried Ford Falcon FG X, just over two-tenths of a second behind Slade.

Mostert’s endurance co-driver Cameron Waters was fourth fastest ahead of the Brad Jones Racing Holden of Jason Bright and the Nissan Motorsport duo of Rick and Todd Kelly.

2015 champion Mark Winterbottom was eighth fastest in his Ford Falcon FG X, lapping just under seven-tenths slower than the fastest time of the session.

Newly signed Volvo driver James Moffat was quicker than team-mate Scott McLaughlin, with both drivers some way from the top of the time sheets. Moffat was 1.5 seconds from Slade’s time, and McLaughlin 1.6 seconds, with the team stating that they tried several time-consuming changes to the car during the session.

Erebus Motorsport and Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport will test at Winton Motor Raceway on Thursday this week.
