Garth Tander and Chaz Mostert given penalties for incidents in Adelaide
Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander and Prodrive Racing Australia driver Chaz Mostert have both been docked 15 points by the stewards for separate incidents in today’s Clipsal 500 Race 3, while investigations into incidents involving Triple Eight’s Jamie Whincup and Race 3 winner Nick Percat have seen the two drivers escape punishment.
Tander was penalised for having spun the Triple Eight Holden of Jamie Whincup out of sixth position at Turn 9 shortly after the race began, while Mostert admitted to having made contact with Rick Kelly’s Nissan at the same corner just one lap later.
Percat was investigated for an incident with Garry Rogers Motorsport driver James Moffat, while Whincup was investigated for potentially having passed Percat under the yellow flags, but both were cleared of any infraction by the stewards.
Tander’s penalty drops him from third to fifth in the championship standings, behind Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin, while Mostert’s penalty drops him from 20th to 22nd behind Lee Holdsworth and Andre Heimgartner.
