Nicola Larini conducts Balance of Performance evaluation in Valencia

Nicola Larini has taken part in the TCR Series Balance of Performance exercise at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, the results of which will determine the different boost and base weights for the cars which will be used across the various TCR championships this year.

The 51-year-old conducted the evaluation on eight different models. The new Romeo Ferraris developed Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic TCR, the OPC developed Opel Astra TCR, PSA Peugeot-Citroën’s Peugeot 308 Racing Cup car, Top Run Motorsport’s Subaru WRX STi, the Volkswagen Golf GTI as well as both the 2015 and 2016 specifications of the SEAT León Cup Racer.

“We asked him to complete five-lap stints with the cars on the minimum weight and then with the maximum 70kg ballast on board,” said TCR technical director Andreas Bellu. “Then he performed corse-down tests that consist of accelerating the car and leaving it going in neutral to evaluate aerodynamics and fluency. Finally we ran acceleration tests with 100% and 90% of the power.”

The TCR organisation will release the Balance of Performance measures for 2016 in a week’s time.
