Shane van Gisbergen storms to second Melbourne win
Shane van Gisbergen made it two out of two in the second non-championship V8 Supercars round at Albert Park. The Kiwi headed his team mates Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup, making it a Triple Eight Race Engineering 1-2-3.
Ford driver Chaz Mostert was initially involved in the top fight, but made a mistake on lap six and dropped down to finish fifth.
Instead it was Lowndes starting to make ground, getting past DJR Team Penske driver Fabian Coulthard for third. Lowndes then put hard pressure on team mate Whincup and made his way past to second place on the very last lap.
That left Coulthard to defend fourth from Mostert, with the Holden Racing Team duo of Garth Tander and James Courtney claiming positions six and seven.
Volvo Cyan Racing driver Scott McLaughlin crossed the line in eighth position.
Two races are left of the Australian Grand Prix weekend with race three being held tomorrow and race four on Sunday.
