Pepe Oriola determined to win 2016 championship

After a winter of speculations, 2015 TCR International Series runner-up Pepe Oriola signed with Craft-Bamboo Lukoil for the coming season.

After some hard fights and with the championship decided just a few miles from the chequered flag in Macau after a tense battle between the Spaniard and Stefano Comini, Oriola is now determined 2016 has to be his year. “Last year it was demonstrated that TCR is a very exciting competition,” said the Spaniard. “In addition, I was runner-up of this championship but this season I will fight for the title. It must be my year.”

The curtain raiser will also mark TCR’s first visit to Bahrain, where Oriola has never been before: “Although I have never raced before in Bahrain, I have trained hard in the simulator.”

Oriola also discussed an interesting point, which will be his on-track fight with his younger brother Jordi. “It will be fun to meet again on the track an entire season with my brother, like when we competed in karting. But our goals are completely different. It will also be interesting to share the weekend with the F1 and meet to my friend Carlos Sainz”, concluded the Spaniard.

Oriola will be partnered by Sergey Afanasiev and James Nash at Craft-Bamboo Lukoil.
