Balance of Performance to affect Honda, Volkswagen and SEAT in Bahrain

The first Balance of Performance measures hit Honda, Volkswagen and SEAT, after the technical department issued the first decision to ensure performance parity in Bahrain.

The Honda Civic TCR and the SEAT León TCR will carry an extra 40kg, which means a total weight of 1,325kg, while the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR was awarded 30kg of ballast.

Newcoming Opel Astra TCR and Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR will stay on minimum weight, which is 1,285kg, driver included, while the Subaru WRX STi TCR enjoys a minimum weight of 1,265kg after a weight “discount” of 20kg.

Due to the use of a DSG gearbox en lieu of the new sequential unit, the two SEAT León Cup Racers entered by Bas Koeten Racing will enjoy an even bigger weight break, running at the minimum weight of 1,250kg.

The technical department may modify these parameters, as well as limiting the engine’s performance through electronics, if the measures already decided prove to be insufficient. Conditions may change even during the first weekend of the event.
