Jordi Oriola cautious ahead of Opel debut

Jordi Oriola will make his debut at the wheel of the new Opel Astra TCR prepared by Target Competition.

The Spaniard, Pepe’s younger brother, knows the car is still in its development phase and is under no illusion the curtain raiser will be easy for him and the team: “The car is still under development, and I want to familiarize with this championship, which I think is the future of international touring cars. To achieve the Top 5 would be a success for me,” said the Spaniard.

Despite Jordi and Pepe being on track at the same time, the younger of the two knows their goals are different: “We both have different goals and it will be only anecdotal to compete in the same championship.”

Oriola used the simulator to prepare for the Bahrain event, having never seen the track before: “I have trained hard in the simulator to learn this new track. To compete in the same track as the Formula 1 is a value for this championship.

I really want to begin this season. I am glad to have the opportunity to face the entire TCR International Series. I have very clear what is my goal and I just hope to do it well on the track in both races this weekend,” concluded Jordi Oriola.
