Dusan Borkovic philosophical despite missed pole position chance
Dusan Borkovic made a very positive debut in the TCR International Series, finishing the session in second a blink of an eye behind pole sitter Sergey Afanasyev. However, after setting the best time in Q1, the Serbian expected to fight for pole position.
The 2015 ETCC Champion believes there is more to come from him, as he still doesn’t feel 100% comfortable with his B3 Racing Team Hungary SEAT León: “It’s a good result, of course, especially taking into consideration that I still don’t know the car too well, the track is new and mostly, I have to acquainted to the tyres.”
After his stunning performance in the first segment of qualifying, the Serbian was not able to repeat the feat in Q2: “I was fastest in Q1, but couldn’t repeat that in Q2. I did a couple of mistakes and then the tyres wore down. Still, it is a very good result for a first qualifying.”
Borkovic will focus on collecting points and will start looking at the big picture to fight for the crown from the word go: “I’ll try to keep cool in the races and get as many points as possible, it’s only the start of a very long championship.”
