Jean-Karl Vernay blames brake issues for lack of pace

Jean-Karl Vernay made his debut in the TCR International Series, gaining a front row start in Race 2 after finishing Qualifying in ninth in Bahrain. The Frenchman is happy, despite brake issues which made him at least a couple of tenths slower.

“I’m relatively satisfied, being this the first qualifying I do on a front-wheel drive car,” admitted Vernay. “The gaps are quite reduced, and I think that without a little brake issue, we could have been 2-3 tenths faster.”

The Frenchman is obvioulsy proud of having been quicker than defending champion Stefano Comini, who is his team-mate at Leopard Racing and finished eleventh in his Volkswagen Golf Gti TCR: “I did better than my team-mate, who is the reigning champion, so that’s not too bad. Now, the important is to cope well with the starts.”

Vernay will still have to take the ninth spot of the grid in Race 1, which is scheduled for 19.30 local time.
