Jordi Oriola hoping to take advantage of reversed grid
Jordi Oriola has brought the Opel Astra TCR to its debut in anger this weekend, together with Target Competition team-mate Andrea Belicchi. The 19-years-old is happy with the progress made and is looking forward to the weekend.
“I’m very happy with how the day went,” said the Spaniard. “We are working hard on the Opel Astra TCR and although I have not set myself any goals, since I’m here to learn in this new championship for me, I will not give up anything this weekend.”
Oriola’s goal is to make it to the top ten in order to take advantage of the reversed grid: “One of the particularities of the TCR International Series is the reversed grid for the second race, so there may be some surprises on Sunday.”
The main goal is therefore to take part in the second segment of Qualifying. The driver finds extra motivation in the fact he hasn’t raced for a few months: “I was hungry for racing, especially in a championship like this, which is the future international touring cars. If we manage to get through Q1, I ‘ll be satisfied. We are confident to be competitive in both races this weekend,” concluded Oriola.
