Worn tyres prevented James Nash from fighting for win
James Nash stepped twice on the podium in the opening event of the TCR International Series in Bahrain.
The Brit came third in the first race and second in Race 2, therefore jumping up to second in the championship for Craft-Bamboo Lukoil: “It’s again a great result for the team and for me as well,” said Nash. “After a third and a second here, I’m really looking forward to the next round in Portugal!”
Nash conceded that having such a strong team-mate as Pepe Oriola makes things more difficult for the Brit: “It was again tough competition today and things are not easy when you have such a strong driver as Pepe on the same car and in the same team.”
As the chequered flag got closer, Nash’s tyres started to wear out, which meant the Brit was no longer able to fight against his team-mate: “My tyres were not in a good condition towards the end, so that prevented me to keep fighting.”
