WCR boss Greger Petersson frustrated with ‘unnecessary incident’ between Honda drivers
A contact between WestCoast Racing team-mates Kevin Gleason and Gianni Morbidelli eventually meant both had problems in the second race in Bahrain. The American was forced to retire, while Morbidelli lost a potential podium finish due to a puncture.
WCR team principal Greger Petersson is very disappointed, and deemed the incident as unnecessary: “This will not be the way for WestCoast Racing/Sportpromotion to win championships,” said the Swede. “What was a strong team performance was tarnished by an unnecessary incident between two of our drivers.”
The team will focus on making sure something like this will not happen again: “We will be sure to avoid this kind of situation in the future, as it negates a lot of the hard work the team has put in and removes the gloss of the race one result for Gianni (Morbidelli).”
WCR’s bad day on Sunday was also ruined by Aku Pellinen’s penalty, which kicked the Finn off the podium, with B3 Racing’s Dusan Borkovic inheriting third.
