Weight break for Volkswagen, Alfa Romeo and Opel

The TCR International Series technical department issued the new Balance of Performance measures after a review of the Bahrain curtain raiser of the International Series.

The SEAT León TCRs and the Honda Civic TCRs will still be the heaviest cars on 1325 kilos, 40 more than their base weights.

The Volkswagen Golf Gti TCR, Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR and Opel Astra TCR will all enjoy a reduction in weight. The Golf is now 30 kilos lighter than in the season opener, bringing it to the base weight of 1285 kilos.

The Giulietta and the Astra will both be a further 20 kilos lighter, bringing their weight down to 1265 kilos, just like the Subaru WRX STi TCR.

The 2015-spec León Racer remains the lightest car with a weight of 1250 kilos, while the Peugeot 308 has also been added to the list, but no Balance of Performance measures were applied.

The new BoP measures will come into effect as early as this weekend, when TCR Germany kicks off at Oschersleben.
