Stefano Comini delighted with improvements

Stefano Comini was left happy with his qualifying performance, as the defending champion finished fourth in his Leopard Racing Volkswagen Golf Gti TCR.

The Swiss made radical changes to the setup of the car, which paid off: “I changed everything I could, we just turned the car upside down,” said Comini to TouringCarTimes. “I went into the opposite direction compared to what we were doing and it paid dividends.”

The Swiss’ focus is now on tomorrow as he hopes to score points for the championship: “I am finally happier with the car, so now I can focus on doing some battles on track to try and gain some positions. I will have to be careful with my team-mate Jean-Karl [Vernay], because we already made an unfortunate contact in Bahrain and that was more than enough.”

Comini is adamant the Golf needs some updates, especially concerning the aerodynamics of the car: “We are slower than the SEATs, so we need to work on that. We know there are some issues with drag, and that costs us a lot on the straights and in fast corners. Hopefully Volkswagen will bring some updates, I am certainly pushing for that.”

The Swiss finished seventh in Race 1 in Bahrain, and two more points scored today bring him to a total of eight in the championship.
