Dusan Borkovic targeting points in repaired car

Dusan Borkovic suffered from a big crash yesterday in qualifying out of Turn 3 at Estoril, Portugal. The car had a bent chassis due to the heavy impact with the barriers in the front right area of the SEAT León.

B3 Racing fixed the car in time for the Serbian to start the race, but uncertainty is the order of the day in the garage as the team did not have time to perform all the necessary checks.

“The boys worked until 5 a.m. tonight, so big thanks to them,” said Borkovic to TouringCarTimes. “The problem is we do not know how the car is going to behave, because we didn’t really have time to check it after the repairs.”

The extensive damage even included the steering wheel, which indicates there might be more underlying issues with the car: “When I sat in the car I found something was wrong with the steering wheel and it was bent, so we will change it. It’s not a big problem, but who knows what else we missed?”

Although aware that the outcome of the race depends on the status of his SEAT León, the Serbian is targeting a points finish for today: “We will see how the car goes, because it could well be undriveable after the shunt. If it is okay then I think I can get up to eighth today. It won’t be easy because I start 17th, but I will try my best. Every point can count, my experience tells me that I need to work hard during the races to make the most out of it.”

Borkovic arrived in Portugal third in the standings after a good performance in Bahrain, which included a podium finish in Race 2.
