Stewards restore Jean-Karl Vernay’s Q2 lap, which puts him up to ninth on the grid
The TCR stewards at Spa-Francorchamps have rescinded the deletion of Jean-Karl Vernay’s second lap in qualifying today, which had initially seen the Leopard Racing Volkswagen driver relegated to 12th with no valid times set in the session. The decision moves the Frenchman up to ninth on the grid for race one, and gives him a front-row start for race two tomorrow.
The stewards concluded the deletion of Vernay’s second lap was in error and have decided to reinstate his lap time, which also impacts the reversed grid pole position, with the sole Belgian in the race, Pierre-Yves Corthals, now classified in 11th and so will start there for both races in the Ferry Monstear SEAT León, with Vernay’s Team WRT team-mate Antti Buri promoted to pole position for race two.
