Stefano Comini convinced tyre management will be crucial

Stefano Comini will start fourth in his Leopard Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR at Imola, Italy. The Swiss, who considers this as his home race, conceded fourth is a good result, although he admits he would have liked to do better.

“Fourth is not bad at all,” said the 2015 champion to TouringCarTimes. “To be honest I would have liked to be at least third, but it is what it is and fourth is a good place to start.”

Comini relies on the race to push himself further up the order: “The race will be difficult, as the temperatures are going up and tyre management will be a problem. Unfortunately the accident I had in the second free practice session meant I killed the new tyres I was using, so I will have to be really careful. I will try to compensate with my racecraft.”

Comini will start from seventh in the reversed-grid second race.
