Honda and SEAT get weight break for Salzburgring

The TCR technical department has decided to modify the Balance of Performance measures ahead of the fifth round of the championship in Salzburg, Austria.

The Honda Civic TCR and the SEAT León TCR have both been given a 10kg weight break, bringing their base weights down to 1,315kg, including the driver.

All remaining models will have the same base weight as previously, with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR running 20kg below the base minimum weight at 1,265kg, 15kg more than the older specification SEAT León Cup Racer, which still features a DSG gearbox, none of which are competing this weekend in Austria.

Although the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR remains at 1,285kg, the base weight as per TCR technical regulations, Leopard Racing’s Stefano Comini will have to carry full success ballast, meaning the Swiss’ car will weigh as much as the Hondas and the SEATs.

The BoP changes also apply to regional and national TCR series.
