Pepe Oriola not bothered whether it rains or not on Sunday

Championship leader Pepe Oriola will start from second on the grid behind Jean-Karl Vernay’s Volkswagen for Race 1 at the Salzburgring tomorrow in his Craft-Bamboo SEAT León, and the Spaniard says he doesn’t care if the rain returns or not to the Austrian circuit.

Last year’s championship runner-up gained three points on his closest rival Stefano Comini after setting the third fastest time in qualifying, while he’ll start second following a two-place penalty for WestCoast Racing’s Harald Proczyk, behind Vernay, who is praying for rain in the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

“I don’t care if it rains, but I’d like a little less water as the last two laps my car was moving from side to side, and there’s not much gravel if you go off in order to stop the car,” said Oriola after qualifying.

“Every lap it was getting worse and worse. At the end, it was getting a little bit dangerous.”
