Mat’o Homola eyes TCR title after maiden win

Mat’o Homola claimed his first TCR International Series win today at Oschersleben, Germany. The B3 Racing driver, who led home team-mate Dusan Borkovic to score a 1-2 for the Hungarian team, admits the race was not easy.

“It was a very tough race,” said the Slovakian. “It was raining in some parts of the circuit and it was tricky, because the grip levels were changing all the time. The rain seemed to fall in different corners at every lap. I just focused on not making mistakes and the two safety cars did not help to that respect, as they closed the gap I had built from people behind me. I am obviously very happy because it is my first win, I want to congratulate my team for giving me such a great car.”

Homola does not hide his championship ambitions, and reveals that his strategy will be to aim for consistency: “You can’t predict things in racing, the championship is very tight and it’s easy to lose 50 points in a weekend, so I will just to what I did in the last couple of events and score points. We will see what that strategy brings.”

Homola was on the podium three times in the last three events, and is four points behind Pepe Oriola and James Nash in the championship.
