Ill Jean-Karl Vernay satisfied with podium finish

Jean-Karl Vernay finished on the podium at Sochi, Russia, claiming second in Race 2. The Frenchman, who has been suffering from a flu, struggled with the heat and the worn out tyres and decided not to push too much to try and sneak the win away from Mikhail Grachev.

“It has been a tough weekend for me: a new track, so much heat and a flu, really not easy,” admitted the Leopard Racing driver. “I am happy I could do well and I liked the Sochi Autodrom a lot. Unfortunately, my Race 1 was spoiled when Nash hit me and I dropped from fourth to tenth, climbing back a few positions afterwards.”

With his health and tyres conditions both in a bad shape, Vernay decided to just bring the car home once he was able to jump up to second: “Race 2 was much better, I won a couple of duels and finished second. By then, my tyres were not in a good situation and I was really sick, so I just tried to stay where I was.”
