Sheered wheel bolts believed at fault for Petr Fulín’s crash
Petr Fulín’s Thailand race weekend ended early with the team’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR crashing out with two laps to go in Race 1 at Turn 3, with the team believing sheered bolts on the front-left wheel was responsible.
The Czech driver had worked his way forward from 12th to eighth and into te points before the incident on lap 13 saw the Giulietta crash out at high-speed, nose first into the corner, with no chance of repair before Race 2.
“I was only a passenger. It was very fast, and the space after the asphalt is not very good,” said Fulín after the crash, the same corner where James Nash crashed his Craft-Bamboo SEAT on Friday.
The team have investigated the crash and believe the bolts on the front-left sheered which caused the wheel to come lose.
The Mulsanne Racing team now have a challenge ahead to repair the car for the next round of the championship in three weeks’ time at Singapore.
