Two-segment qualifying format dropped for Singapore

The TCR International Series qualifying session at this weekend’s round in Singapore will not be split in two sessions. Instead of the usual format, the field will run all together for a single session, which will last 25 minutes.

Drivers would normally have 20 minutes for the first part of qualifying, with the fastest 12 progressing into Qualifying 2, which determines the top 12 positions of the grid, with the top ten reversed for the Race 2 grid.

While the reversed grid will be kept for Singapore, the limited time for track activities due to the packed Formula One timetable has forced the change.

The usual two free practice sessions have also been amalgamated into one session, which will run for 40 minutes, limiting the amount of track time for the TCR International Series drivers even further.

The 20-car field will start qualifying on Saturday at 14:40 local time.
