Calm race for Jean-Karl Vernay after good start
Jean-Karl Vernay won his third TCR International Series race earlier today at Singapore. The Leopard Racing driver knew the start was going to be important for him to be able to win and, once he got that right, everything was pretty smooth.
“I am very happy, it was very nice to win here and in this fantastic atmosphere”, said the Volkswagen driver. “I knew that the start was going to be crucial and luckily, everything went well.”
After the start team-mate Stefano Comini was close, but Vernay says he was trying to avoid stressing his tyres: “I pulled away nicely in the first laps, trying to stay calm, avoid any mistakes and preserving the tyres. Everything went as planned, and it was great.”
The Frenchman was also able to collect precious points: “I was also able to reduce the gap in the championship, I still would prefer to be much closer, but it was a good result anyway.”
Vernay is 22 points behind championship leader and Leopard Racing team-mate Comini.
