No pressure from title battle in Singapore for Gianni Morbidelli
Gianni Morbidelli just made it to the front row after he improved his lap time in the final moments of qualifying at Singapore. The WestCoast Racing driver was a blink of an eye quicker than B3 Racing’s Mat’o Homola.
“It’s a much better result than yesterday,” admitted the Honda driver. “We changed everything on the car and it worked. Of course, we couldn’t approach Jean-Karl’s time, but I am very happy with the car.”
Morbidelli has no pressure coming from the title fight, as he rules himself out of contention, which means he will try his best to score race wins in the remaining three events of the year: “It will be a tough race, I’ll go for the best possible result, as I am no longer fighting for the title, but this is a track where it is difficult to overtake and also defend the position.”
Morbidelli hasn’t won a TCR race since Portugal earlier this year.
