Pepe Oriola concentrated on title battle after Singapore disappointment

Pepe Oriola scored no points on Sunday at Singapore, after the Spaniard was awarded a drive through penalty for a contact with WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli.

The Craft-Bamboo driver is still fully in the title battle though, as he is 16 points behind fellow Lukoil-backed driver James Nash: “After the podium on Saturday, I was hoping to repeat the feat this morning, but things didn’t go as I wanted”, said the SEAT driver. “The important thing is that I’m still in the title battle and it is clear it will be between us three”, said Oriola referring to himself, Nash and Leopard Racing’s Stefano Comini.

“I am aware that with four races remaining it is important now more than ever to must stay calm and score in every race. Undoubtedly the final few races will make for an exciting fight between us.”

Oriola has a 12-point advantage over Leopard Racing’s Jean-Karl Vernay, who is fourth in the standings.
