Newcastle added in provisional 2017 Supercars calendar
The Supercars organisation has issued a provisional 2017 calendar that includes a new street circuit in Newcastle, Australia, as season finale.
“Once again in 2017 we will travel to every state and territory in Australia with the exception of only the ACT and host some of Australia’s biggest sporting events including the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 from 5-8 October,” said Supercars Chief Executive James Warburton.
“We have also brought the final event in Newcastle forward to November in what we expect will be a massive grand finale to the season.”
The planned expansion to Asia has been put on hold until 2018, with the remainder of the 2017 calendar more or less unchanged from this year.
Two races remain to have their dates confirmed, including the non-points awarding race weekend at the Australian F1 GP, as well as the season finale in Newcastle.
