Pepe Oriola admits small mistake cost him Sepang pole position

Although Pepe Oriola took four points in the championship, the Craft-Bamboo driver is not fully satisfied with the outcome of the Sepang qualifying session. The Lukoil-backed driver admitted a small mistake cost him the chance to start on pole later today.

“If I’m honest, I expected someone to be faster than me because I made a slight mistake when I went out on my last set of tyres”, admitted the Spaniard. “I’m happy with the result, even if you always want to be on pole position.”

Although Oriola must focus on the championship, he is keen on trying to win tomorrow, perhaps courtesy of a good start: “My focus is on the championship, not winning the race, but I will try to do a good start. Let’s see what happens in the first corner.”

The Spaniard believes his previous experience on the track and the fact he knows his SEAT inside out will help him in the early stages of the race: “I expect to push on the first lap because I have really good experience in the car and I know the track so I am very positive about getting a good result.”
